The 1947 film Miracle on 34th Street is about a department store employee, Kris Kringle, who is hired to play Santa Claus and insists he is the real Santa. When his sanity is questioned, a lawyer takes his case to court, where they must prove he is Santa Claus to save him from institutionalization. Throughout the story, Kris touches the lives of those around him, including a young, skeptical girl named Susan Walker and her pragmatic mother, Doris. The film ends with a courtroom victory for Kris and a heartwarming conclusion for Susan’s family.
